2010 will be the Texas Scooter Times 30th Anniversary in the Swap Meet promotion business. Since starting in 1980 on the 12th of January at the old
Austin City Coliseum, Red Roberts has promoted Swap Meets for exactly half of his 60 years. Looking at the 2010 Season, things don’t look like
they’re gonna slow down any time too soon either as the phone rings often and the lights are still on late into the evenings at the Texas Scooter
Times 113 year old office building in Downtown Itasca Texas.
…First for the 30th year will be a place that has held regular TST shows for the last 17 years, the Gigantic Historic Longhorn Ballroom. Coming up
Sunday January 10th, the Longhorn will host the 8th ANNUAL DALLAS CHOPPER SHOW & SWAP MEET. Sponsored by Hank Bauer Rider & Attorney,
Home Built, Shop Built, & Manufacturer Built Choppers will compete in both Judged and Peoples Choice Competition as one of North Texas
FAVORITE Party Bands Pete Barbeck & 7th Son plays Rock & Blues. Carter Blood Care is expected to set up their bloodmobile outside for donations
at their most critical time of the year. Free admission to the Chopper Show will be given to donars along with popular gifts from Carter.
…Next the Party goes west, as Will Rogers Expo Center hosts Texas Scooter Times’ FORT WORTH SWAP MEET & BIKER LIFESTYLE EXPO in it’s
Small Exhibits Building February 21st. Sponsored again by the only "Biker Attorney" we know of that can ride a jockey shift, Hank Bauer, Pete
Barbeck & his combo will as always keep things rollin’ while motorcycle enthusiasts rummage the large hall on Harley Avenue for everything from
stuff to keep their bikes on the road to everyday items needed by "gearheads".
…The Humble Civic Center, home of 3 GOOD Swap Meets in ‘09, will then have bikes again rumbling off North Houston’s Will Clayton Parkway
March 7th to the HOUSTON SWAP MEET & MOTORCYCLE EXPO. Texas Scooter Times’ Antique, Custom & Touring Motorcycle Show Judges will be
awarding trophys is a dozen or so classes in Judged Competition while motorcycle enthusiasts vote for their favorites with Peoples Choice Ballots to
the tune of a Live Band. Sponsored again by Cold Springs Bad To The Bone Motorcycle Shop and Baytown’s KT’s Cycle Service the open sided
Expo Building has become a favorite with professional vendors and folks just coming with junk from their garage because of it’s large crowds and
easy access for loading & parking.
…San Antonio’s Freeman Coliseum will again have TST’s SAN ANTONIO SWAP MEET. This time in conjunction with the South Texas Motorcycle
Show March 19th thru March 21, Friday thru Sunday. The large East Houston Street complex will host manufacturers displays, a top notch bike
show, and high paying stunt bike competition among almost everything motorcycle AND in the back building it’ll be motorcyclin’ bargains galore as
Texas Scooter Times swap meet vendors show their wares to the large crowds that have been making it to the South Texas Motorcycle Show each
year.
…Dallas and the venerable old Longhorn Ballroom see’s the motorcyclin’ population then converge again at 212 Corinth @ Industrial for the 17th
ANNUAL SPRING SWAP MEET DALLAS. The shade trees out back of the Longhorn are always popular spots in the Spring for folks with trucks to sell
out of, as the riding season is in full swing by the 25th of April. Inside as Pete Barbeck goes at entertaining the crowd again an Antique Motorcycle
Show will be held on the large dance floor. Judged and Peoples Choice Competition will have the "old iron" trying for trophys and cash prizes as
the patch - t shirt - jewelry and other folks that don’t want to go outside with their wares spend their day enjoyin’ Pete’s tunes & libations from
Longhorns 2 bars.
…Another Swap Meet is planned for South Texas in the Summer and bikers will find "the times" working again some in the fall between races.
Then it’s the holidays again and time to plan for season #31 in ‘11. …………
