…What the 2010 Chopper Show at the Longhorn Ballroom lacked in entrys it made up for in quality competitors FOR SURE… Judged by Cold Spring’s Bad To The Bone Motorcycle Shop’s owners "Maddog" Phillip and his lovely wife Theresa, the Gigantic Historic old Dallas Landmark saw some NICE scooters on the dance floor January 10th instead of "scootin’ boots". …North Richland Hill’s 2nd generation bike builder from Traditions Cycle Adam Garley took the Manufacturers Built Class with his ‘02 Ultra Classic that he put 5 months work into. It’s sheetmetal work, sound system and air ride were factors that had Adam commenting, "It’s a clean functioning bike with a style most can appreciate." Adam took the trophy with out even having to light his flamethrowers, a move that was probably allright with the patch vendor set up just a few feet from the Juan Porras painted beauty. …Traditions Cycle also took First Place in the Shop Built Class with Jared Doornbos’ Custom. Adam Garley was credited with the fabrication and assembly while another of Juan Porras’s paint jobs had show patrons around it all day long. Combine’s David Cline took 2nd in Shop Built with his Kerr Dog Custom built "Big Slick". The $80,000 poker themed big twin featured autographs of 14 World Champion poker players embedded in it’s Bobby Kerr paint job. The 15 month project by Bobby & Cody Kerr was a close 2nd in Peoples Choice Competition and could possibly have won but lost some votes because it came in late. …3rd Place in the hotly contested Home Built Class went to Klaus Seeger’s interesting 96 Suzuki Savage based Chopper. Painted, Fabricated and Assembled by Seeger during a 2 year layoff recovering from knee surgery, only $1000 was actually spent on the project while his wife commented, "I would have to go through the house everyday to see what he had swiped, I.E. drawer pulls, swords, knives, fireplace pieces!!" Klaus commented, " I do not have a lot of money so everything on my bike is from recycled material that I have found or picked up from discarded waste at the job." …2nd Place in the Home Built Class went to Martin & Justin Linex for their Nostalgia Fuel Sportster that was exhibited in the front lobby of the Ballroom. It was Jocko Mitchell’s original Agent Orange which went through a couple of hands before it was sold to the Linex family. They raced it for a season and a half before experienced a catastrophic engine explosion in San Antonio. Now the frame has been repaired along with fresh orange paint & powdercoating and a new motor. "Agent Orange Reborn" is slated to make it to the track again this season starting at Little River Dragway April 25. …First Place in the Home Built Class ALONG WITH the large Peoples Choice trophy AND the Judges Choice trophy went to Billy Tait’s ‘82 Shovelhead. Spending only $5500 and taking only 36 days for the build, the innovative builder delited both the voting audience and the respected judge with such "off the wall" touches as a glass velocity stack and the use of extensive brazing and gas welding instead of paint. Saying, "I can’t afford new parts so I used scrap metal and a welder," the Dallas website designer also stated when asked, "Why should you win?" He replied, "Cause Shovelheads RULE!!" ……Next on the Texas Scooter Times ‘10 Schedule is the Fort Worth Swap Meet & Biker Lifestyle Expo. Expect some more "interesting" scooters there!!!!!!
